Edit your profile
Customize your profile to show others who you are.
You can make a few quick profile changes in a row — up to three — but after that you'll need to wait about five minutes between each additional change. This applies to username and profile picture updates. If your changes don't seem to save, wait a few minutes and try again.
Change your username
Your username is your unique identity on Root. It must be 3–20 characters and can contain only letters, numbers, underscores, and periods.
When you change your username, your old username becomes available for others to use.

- Select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select User profile.
- In the Username field, enter your new username.
- Select Save changes to confirm.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap User profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- In the Username field, enter your new username.
- Tap Save changes to confirm.
Change your profile picture
Your profile picture appears next to your name throughout Root. When you create your account, Root assigns you a default avatar. You can replace it with a custom image to personalize your profile.

- Select Settings.
- Select User profile.
- Select your current profile picture.
- Choose an image file from your computer.
- Select Save changes to confirm.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap User profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Select an image from your photo library.
- Select Save changes to confirm.
Remove your profile picture
If you no longer want a custom profile picture, you can remove it. When you remove your profile picture, Root displays a default avatar instead.

- Select User profile.
- Select the Remove button (trash icon) on your profile picture.
- Select Save changes to confirm.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap User profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap the Remove button (trash icon) on your profile picture.
- Tap Save changes to confirm.
Add a bio
Your bio is a short description that appears on your profile card when others select your avatar or username. You can use markdown and links in your bio.

- Select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select User profile.
- In the Bio field, enter your description (up to 200 characters).
- Select Save changes to confirm.
To remove your bio, clear the Bio field and select Save changes.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap User profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- In the Bio field, enter your description (up to 200 characters).
- Tap Save changes to confirm.
To remove your bio, clear the Bio field and tap Save changes.
Upload a profile banner
Your profile banner is an image displayed at the top of your profile card when others select your avatar or username.

- Select Settings.
- Select User profile.
- Select the banner area.
- Choose an image file from your computer.
- Select Save changes to confirm.
The recommended banner size is 600x220 pixels. The maximum file size is 10 MB.

- Tap Settings.
- Tap User profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap the banner area.
- Select an image from your photo library.
- Tap Save changes to confirm.
Remove your profile banner

- Select Save changes to confirm.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.

- Tap Save changes to confirm.
