Profile badges
Badges sit on a person's profile and show something they do for Root. Some badges mark the people who help run the Root community, like moderators, helpers and developers.

Root Staff
| Badge | Name | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Root Staff | This person works at Root. |
The Root Staff badge shows on the person's profile, and it is the only badge that also shows next to their name on their messages. It shows everywhere in Root, in every community and in direct messages. If someone says they work at Root but the badge isn't next to their name, or the badge is only in their profile picture or bio, they are not Root Staff.
Community badges
| Badge | Name | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Verified Moderator | A verified moderator of Root's official communities. Only members of the Root mod team have this badge. The color shows their level: blue for moderators and purple for senior moderators. Higher tiers are more senior roles on the mod team. | |
| Beacon | Given by the Root team to members who are very helpful to others in Root's official communities, including the Root Developer community. Not everyone gets one. It recognizes the people who make a real difference. | |
| Verified Developer | A developer who builds apps for Root and has been verified by the Root team through the Root Developer community. | |
| Bug Hunter | Given by the Root team to people who find and report real bugs in Root, not just small issues or questions. It thanks them for helping make Root better. |
Each of these badges comes in four tiers, and each tier is a different color. The badge's name shows its tier, for example Beacon Tier 2.

Badges are only given out by the Root team. The Closed Beta badge was only given to people who joined during the closed beta, so newer accounts don't have it.
