Configure how messages and emoji work in Root.

Auto-convert emoticons to emoji

Automatically turn text emoticons like :P into emoji like 😛 as you type.

Desktop

1. Select your profile picture in the user tray.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Chat from the left navigation.
4. Toggle Auto-convert emoticons to emoji on or off.

Mobile

1. Tap the Profile tab.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Chat.
4. Toggle Auto-convert emoticons to emoji on or off.

Tap to reply

Control whether clicking a message opens the reply composer.

Desktop

When enabled (the default), clicking on a message starts a reply to that message. When disabled, use the action bar or right-click menu to reply.

1. Select your profile picture in the user tray.

4. Toggle Tap to reply on or off.

Mobile

When enabled (the default), tapping on a message starts a reply to that message. When disabled, use the long press menu to reply.

4. Toggle Tap to reply on or off.
