Community owner
The member who created the community is the owner. Owners have a crown icon next to their name and automatically have every permission. Only the owner can delete the community or transfer ownership to another member.
Default roles
New communities include two predefined roles. You can change the permissions for each role as needed.
| Role | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| EVERYONE | Basic role for all members. Includes permissions for everyday activity: viewing channels, sending messages, using voice, viewing files, and more. All members automatically get this role. | You cannot remove it from members, and you cannot delete the role from the community. |
| Admins | Higher-level role with nearly all permissions enabled. Give this role to members who help run the community. | Includes the ability to manage the community, roles, members, channels, and more. Does not include Full Control. Add only to trusted members. You can edit, remove, or delete this role. |
Default channel groups
New communities include two predefined channel groups, one for members and one for administrators.
General group
The General group and all its channels are open to EVERYONE.
| Channel | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Text | Standard text channel for general discussion. This is also set as the default channel for system messages. |
| Voice | Voice | Voice channel for calls. |
Admin group
The Admin group and all its channels are only available to members with the Admins role. Members who are not Admins won't see the channel group or its channels.
| Channel | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Admin-Text | Text | Private text channel for administrator discussions. |
| Admin-Voice | Voice | Private voice channel for administrator meetings and conversations. |
