General

Adjust vibrations and motion in the Root mobile app.

General settings are only available on mobile.

Haptics​

Haptics are the small vibrations for taps, swipes and alerts across Root. They are on by default.

  1. Tap the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Toggle Haptics on or off.

Reduced motion​

Reduced motion stops animated emoji, GIFs, and animated profile pictures and banners from playing across Root.

By default, Root follows your phone's own reduce motion setting, so you only need to change it in one place. To set it for Root only:

  1. Tap the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Under Motion, turn Sync with device settings off.
  5. Toggle Reduced motion on or off.

While Sync with device settings is on, the Reduced motion switch shows your phone's setting and you can't change it here.

tip

While reduced motion is on, Play animated emoji and Automatically play GIFs in Chat settings are switched off too. See Chat.
