View and save images

When a message includes images or GIFs, you can open them full size, and save or copy them.

Desktop

Click any image or GIF in a message to open it in the full-window viewer. When a message has several images, they show as a grid, so click any one to open it. The top of the viewer shows who sent it, when, and the file name.

Move between images: use the arrows on either side, the left and right arrow keys, or select a thumbnail along the bottom.

Zoom and pan: select Zoom In to zoom into the image, then drag to move around it.

Save or copy: right-click an image, or use the options in the viewer, to:

• Save image: save the original file to your computer.
• Copy image: copy the image to your clipboard.
• Copy link: copy a link to the image.

Mobile

Tap an image to view it full size. The download and share options appear along the bottom.

To save or copy an image:

1. Press and hold the image or video in the message.
2. Choose what you want to do:
   • Copy puts the image on your clipboard.
   • Copy link copies a link to it instead.
   • Open link opens it outside Root.
3. To save it to your device, tap the download icon (downward arrow). To send it to another app, tap the share icon.

Root confirms with Copied to clipboard. or Copied link to clipboard. when you copy.
