Block and unblock users
Block someone to stop them messaging you or seeing when you're online.
What happens when you block someone?
When you block a user:
- They can't send you direct messages
- They can't add you as a friend
- You won't see their messages in channels you share
- They won't see your online status
Block a user
- Desktop
- Mobile
From a user profile or message:
- Right-click the user's name (in a channel, member list, or DM).
- Select Block.
- Confirm the block when prompted.
From notifications:
You can block users directly from most notifications.
- Select the Notifications icon (bell) in the user tray.
- Locate the notification from the user you want to block.
- Select the options icon (three vertical dots).
- Select Block.
- Confirm the block when prompted.
From a user profile or message:
- Tap the user's name or avatar in the member list or a text channel to open their profile.
- Tap Block.
- Confirm the block when prompted.
From notifications:
You can block users directly from most notifications.
- Tap the Notifications tab in the navigation bar.
- Locate the notification from the user you'd like to block.
- Tap the user's profile picture in the notification.
- Tap Block.
- Confirm the block when prompted.
View blocked users
- Desktop
- Mobile
- Select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select Blocked users.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Blocked users.
Unblock a user
- Desktop
- Mobile
- Select your profile picture in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select Blocked users.
- Select Unblock next to the user's name.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Blocked users.
- Tap Unblock next to the user's name.
