Pin messages

Highlight important messages in a conversation for easy access later.

What are pinned messages?​

Pinned messages are messages that have been highlighted so everyone in the conversation can find them quickly. Use pinned messages to preserve important information, shared links, or decisions that you want to reference later.

When a message is pinned, it appears in the conversation's pinned messages list. Anyone in the conversation can pin or unpin messages. When a channel has pinned messages, a pin indicator appears to show that messages are pinned.

Pinning a message is different from pinning a conversation to the tab bar. Pinning a message highlights that specific message within the conversation. Pinning a conversation adds the entire conversation as a tab for quick access.

Pin a message​

  1. Hover over the message you want to pin.
  2. Select the Pin icon (pushpin) in the message actions, or right-click the message and select Pin message.

A system message appears in the conversation indicating that you pinned the message.

Unpin a message​

  1. Hover over the pinned message.
  2. Select the Unpin icon (pushpin) in the message actions, or right-click the message and select Unpin message.

View pinned messages​

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Select the Options icon (three dots) in the conversation header.
  3. Select View details.
  4. Select a message to jump to it in the conversation.
